Bookgasm: Expensive vs Cheap

As Pearl S. Buck once said in her book, The Good Earth, "I am always glad when any of my books can be put into an inexpensive edition, because I like to think that any people who might wish to read them can do so."

Surely books ought to be within the reach of everybody.” I agree with her. Who doesn't? Everyone deserves to have access to books and read. They deserve to learn and enhance their knowledge especially now that books or reading as a habit are unpopular to kids. Children ignore books for video games or those techy leisure.

With regard to book prices, I have noticed that books are getting expensive nowadays. I understand if the book is hard bound, a bestseller or those non-fiction ones because those are really pricey. But there are some books that are super thin in width or has less than a hundred pages that amounts to two hundred fifty or three hundred pesos which is not practical. I, for one, sometimes had to turn down my habit of buying books because of this.

So I opted for the cheaper way: Booksales & Ebooks. It's like Hunger Games inside of those stores. You have to bump people, little yourself to fit in to the small space and even hoard the good ones for yourself. I remember a friend of mine has a habit of hiding the books she plans to buy next time she visits the store on the back of all the books or she will put it on the top shelf. What I love about Booksale is that I can still find new ones and good as new books for a very affordable price. It ranges from fifty pesos to two hundred pesos. There are a lot of hard bounds that cost less than a hundred bucks. I even saw some audiobooks for forty-five pesos. How awesome is that?

When I don't get to see the books I want, especially the new ones or the bestsellers, I try to look all over the web just to get a good copy.

Take note: for free. Well, we are pirates. Lol. But this helps me to segregate the books that are worth reading from those that are only worth downloading.
