I am currently staring blankly on this page thinking what should I write today. I am clearly taking my time off work since I wanted to do the things I love to do during the weekend for a change. But it did not happen since I chose to rest more than to be productive. I guess I will just have to share what I did in the office a month ago while killing time. Recently, I've been starting to collect office supplies and so obsessed in fixing my work table. I want to buy a lot of work stuff even though in reality, I do not have my own cubicle to keep all those things. I only have my table and my drawers. So what I did was play with my washi tapes. I bought a few to try it out and I think it was long overdue that's why I decided to do something about it.

Since I lost mine, my boss gave me her extra notebook. It was a requirement for us to have one especially if we will attend meetings--definitely a must. I wanted it to blend to my colorful table so I decided to cover it with washi tapes like this:

The trick is to choose washi tapes with designs that will compliment each other. So I picked first the one with polka dots and the one with a gingham print. I actually reached almost half of the notebook when I realized that these two rolls are not enough to cover the whole thing. Imagine my pain to remove it again so I can add another design. Oh well, there's always room for mistakes.

I added the "preppy-ish" design to the bunch. When sticking the washi tape, make sure that it is straight and that you start an inch from the inside so you can secure it with another set of tape. It's not shown in the photos, but on the back part of my notebook, there was a bitin part so I had to break the alternate design. It's a lesson learned to always get twos or threes of each design. The finish product was not that perfect but I liked it. It ended pretty nice actually. I thought the patterns will not work but surprisingly, it did!

MATERIALS NEEDED:

2. Put the jar in the middle of the paper and mark it with its size by putting one small dot at the top and at the bottom. You don't want your label to be too small or big, and it helps in cutting it, too.

3. Name your "awesome New Year" jar. I named mine "My Happy Wagon" because it reminded me of Stargirl's. The only difference is that she used stones to symbolize how she felt in a day. Although mine will only represent the happy bits of my life in a year.

4. I made sure my label was just the right size by putting the jar on it so I could see if it fits.

 6. Measure your jar correctly and cut your label.

7.To cut a perfect circle, I used my tape to trace one on my cut paper to serve as guide.

 Here is the finish product! I will definitely fill this up this year!

TIPS:

* If you have a plain jar, you can find more ways to design it by painting on it, putting glitters, etc. Be creative! Put a personal touch. (Too bad I wasn't able to find a plain jar so I used a designed one instead.)

* To actually feel its effect, DO NOT OPEN THE JAR UNTIL NEW YEAR'S EVE.

* Ask, or better yet, encourage your friends and family to do it as well so you can all share it at the end of the year.

* scissors

* "nail pusher and nipper"

* colorless nail polish (for base and finish)

* nail glue (if you have one)

* nail polish (color of your choice)

WHAT TO DO:

3. Paint your nails with your base color of choice. Let it dry for a few minutes then apply nail glue. Use the nipper to put the design on your nail and place it on the center. use the pusher to gently push the design to it can properly stick to your nail.
