This is a late Bookgasm post related to the book I recently read which is called Being Henry David. It was an inspiring read and I also love how the protagonist, Hank, reads a lot and turn in to books whenever he needed to look for something. So I listed down (its's a habit) the books mentioned and I also created a short playlist with some songs that were also in the book. Books + Music = Perfect combination.
READING LIST
Walden by Henry David Thoreau
Walden; or Life in the Woods is an American book written by noted transcendentalist Henry David Thoreau. The work is part personal declaration of independence, social experiment, voyage of spiritual discovery, satire, and manual for self-reliance. Published in 1854, it details Thoreau's experiences over the course of two years in a cabin he built near Walden Pond, amidst woodland owned by his friend and mentor Ralph Waldo Emerson, near Concord, Massachusetts. This has a great influence on the book and mostly revolve in it while intertwining it to Armistead's own story.

Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown
In a great green room, tucked away in bed, is a little bunny. "Goodnight room, goodnight moon." And to all the familiar things in the softly lit room -- to the picture of the three little bears sitting on chairs, to the clocks and his socks, to the mittens and the kittens, to everything one by one -- the little bunny says goodnight.
In this classic of children's literature, beloved by generations of readers and listeners, the quiet poetry of the words and the gentle, lulling illustrations combine to make a perfect book for the end of the day. (From Goodreads)

The Maine Woods by Henry David Thoreau
Henry D. Thoreau traveled to the backwoods of Maine in 1846, 1853, and 1857. Originally published in 1864, and published now with a new introduction by Paul Theroux, this volume is a powerful telling of those journeys through a rugged and largely unspoiled land. It presents Thoreau's fullest account of the wilderness.
"The Maine Woods" is classic Thoreau: a personal story of exterior and interior discoveries in a natural setting--all conveyed in taut, masterly prose. Thoreau's evocative renderings of the life of the primitive forest--its mountains, waterways, fauna, flora, and inhabitants--are timeless and valuable on their own. But his impassioned protest against the despoilment of nature in the name of commerce and sport, which even by the 1850s threatened to deprive Americans of the "tonic of wildness," makes "The Maine Woods" an especially vital book for our own time. The first two songs were given by the author and was often used in the book while the last three, she only gave the names of the bands. So what I did was search for the songs and lyrics of the said bands that would talk about the youth, life, self-discovery and with knowing yourself themes. Enjoy listening!
